Niles, member of the Senate of the United States, to which is Annexed, a Geographical and Historical View of Texas, with a Detailed Account of the Texian Revolution and War by Hon. L.T. Pease.-An early printing of the first edition of this text to contain the Pease material on the Texas Revolution, added as the revolution had just ended and the Republic of Texas had declared itself independent in 1836. Particularly noteworthy because Niles was the senator whose vote would be the one to pass annexing Texas into the United States as a slave state. Does not, alas, contain the folding maps the book is famous for (I believe that map, the first to show and independent Texas, appeared in the *next* edition). Full leather. H. Huntington, 1837.
